Holy Blossom Temple’s 150th Anniversary as Toronto’s first synagogue was an auspicious milestone. Festivals and events were planned throughout the year to celebrate this momentous occasion, and the Temple needed a large number of publications to inform and welcome its congregation and others to the year-long party.
Challenge: The wide range of materials had to be striking enough to draw the eye and encourage interest, but also tie in with materials created for other 150th Anniversary events. Some publications were geared to a specific audience, but others had to appeal to the congregation as a whole. And to top it off, everything needed to look spectacular on a limited budget.
Consultation: We worked in concert with committees, lay leaders, Temple staff and volunteers to ensure that each event received special recognition. We also kept a vigilant eye on the budget, planning far in advance to help our client keep printing costs down.
Implementation: All year long, nymanink worked tirelessly to make Holy Blossom Temple’s Anniversary year extra special. From banners to invitations to pamphlets to retrospective booklets, we did it all — quickly, creatively and cost-effectively. We took special care to maintain a consistency in all that we created, using warm, gold tones to welcome the eye and invite the reader in.
Result: The response to the event, from congregants to dignitaries such as Governor General Michaëlle Jean, Ontario Progressive Conservative leader John Tory, Toronto Mayor David Miller and Union for Reform Judaism President Rabbi Eric Yoffie, was overwhelming, and our beautiful, professional work really set Holy Blossom Temple apart as a unique community with much to commemorate and celebrate.
Reaction: “The items that you produced for Holy Blossom’s 150th Anniversary were truly memorable. From the calendar of events, through the various program booklets, to our memento book, there was interesting design, attractive colour and a desirable consistency — a real professional look. I particularly appreciated the positive relationship in which we worked; we knew where we wanted to go: you helped us to get there.”
